House Rules & Roommate Etiquette

Unless otherwise agreed with all your Roommates, the following rules and etiquette to all tenancies with Moving Spaces:

  • Roommates are entitled to the quiet enjoyment of their room and use of common areas.

  • Being a good Roommate requires being considerate, mature and respectful to your fellow Roommates and property manager at all times.

  • A certain amount of common sense and maturity is required. If you have any issue or concern with your property or roommate, make a time to calmly discuss this with them as soon as possible.

  • While visitor's and guests are generally allowed, we highly recommend communicating your intention to have guests in the property with your roomates. We would encourage you to have a discussion about when this is appropriate and circumstances when it is not.  Your guests must not interfere with the quiet enjoyment of the property by your roomates, and it is your responsibility to ensure they do not.

  • Unless your partner is named on the tenancy agreement, no partners are allowed to move into the property on a permanent or semi-permanent basis e.g. beyond a regular night or two per week. If a friendship or romantic situation develops, we will happily find you a couple's room to move to as soon as one becomes available.

  • Couples are welcome to occupy our larger ensuite rooms. Our policy is to only allow one couple per property. This means the maximum number of roommates is limited to the number of rooms plus one.

  • Shared bathrooms are only to be used by the roommate they are allocated too. Never use someone else's bathroom without their prior permission.

  • Our property managers are available to guide or resolve any issue that may arise

  • Our professional crew cleans shared areas, including the kitchen and any shared bathrooms, weekly or fortnightly. They also maintain the gardens unless you have sole access. Please don't leave things in their way.

  • You are responsible for cleaning your room and the attached ensuite bathrooms.

  • Managed in strict accordance with Tenancy Service rules and regulations. Tenancy Services NZ will hold your bond.
